JACQUES PALOUME INTERNATIONAL EASTER FESTIVAL 2006

Dear Square Cut Punts,

East Grinstead Hockey Club would like to invite your touring men’s team to the annual Jacques Paloume Easter Festival, to be held on the weekend of the 14^th to 17^th April.

You may or may not be aware that this is the oldest International Hockey Festival of its kind in Europe and is now in its 57^th year.  The tournament’s hosts alternate each year between Rouen (France), GrossFlottbeker (Hamburg, Germany) and East Grinstead with the main Jacques Paloume Trophy being competed for by these three clubs.

Each year the host club has the opportunity to invite local teams to join the annual Festival of Hockey and play for the honour of winning the Festival Trophy. This year we are delighted to say that along with the normal East Grinstead, Grossflottbeker and Rouen touring men’s and ladies teams, an ‘Allstars’ EG side, Grossflottbeker men’s 2^nd team and Inverleith from Scotland will also be joining us.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

Friday 14^th April:         Players from Grossflottbeker and Rouen arrive early evening.

It is tradition that the evening before the start of the tournament is spent sampling the delights of the local nightlife.  (As you can imagine this is always a winner when playing in Hamburg!!) 

Saturday 15^th April:     10.00 Tournament hockey starts (official programme of games tbc).  Matches will be 25 mins each way with central timing, played on both the Sand and Water-based pitches.

                                    12.00 to 14.00 Lunch served

                                    17.00 Hockey finishes

                                    20.00 till late. Evening entertainment starts with party in Le Marquee at EGSCC – Dinner included.

Sunday 16^th April:        10.00 Hockey starts

                                    12.00 to 14.00 Lunch served

                                    17.00 Hockey finishes

                                    18.30 till late.  Evening entertainment at the Three Crowns Pub in Ashurst Wood including Hog Roast Dinner and ‘Disco’!!

Monday 17^th April:       10.00 Hockey starts

                                    12.00 to 14.00 Lunch served

                                    17.00 Hockey finishes

                                    19.00 for 19.30.  Final Dinner in Le Marquee. (Compulsory dress code of Lounge Suits)

                                    The Monday evening is always a final celebration of the weekend which includes a three course sit down meal, awards presentation and the chance to celebrate your tournament win in style!!

And the price for all this is just £80 per person!!  This includes your hockey, lunch,

dinner and entry to the evening entertainment for all three days and nights.

This is an amazing tournament, which is steeped in history and tradition, it would be

fantastic if your team could become part of a very special festival.
